What will your dream kitchen look like in 11 years? One company strives to give you a preview.
It’s exciting to imagine the kind of comforts and improvements that technology will bring in years to come—especially in a room as widely-used and adored as the kitchen. While appliances such as dishwashers and microwaves have already revolutionized the kitchen experience, it’s thrilling to think about what’s next: the items that the following generation will think of as complete necessities…even though currently they sound like they’re straight out of a science fiction movie (albeight a very pleasant one!) Here, a preview of what GE Appliances’ industrial designers are predicting for 2025:
-A Smart Faucet: One that gives you a choice of filtered, ice, or carbonated water. Or want your h20 with vitamins? It can make it happen. Just make sure you’re drinking enough: This faucet tracks your hydration level.
-An In-Sink Dishwasher: Wash a small load of dishes (i.e., dishes from dinner for two) in 5 minutes. Plus, sensors in the sink wash produce for the optimal amount of time, to make sure you’re ridding it of all bacteria.
-Social Cooking: Ever wished you could cook with a celebrity chef? Using a combination of voice- and facial- recognition technology, GE will create human simulations that can teach you how to cook. (Cookbooks: Look out!)
-Urban Grilling: A window-mounted grill that ensures no smoke in your home and the perfectly-charred steak.
-Smart Sustainability: Your appliances will harvest gray water and recycle it so it can be used for a sustainable growing wall. Hello, fresh herbs!
